Another Westport Relentless Sunday
Mark, Kenny, and I spent a glorious day at Westport fishing for salmon once again. Kenny met us at the dock early in the morning for a 5AM roll out to find what we already expected to be a flat glass ocean and a beautiful sunrise. The company was excellent, the water was flat, and the fish were to be found but they didn't exactly jump on the hook.
We fished the North beach early and got a couple of nice kings under 20 pounds and a coho. When the action died, we headed out to 220 feet to join the fleet and some friends that were having some decent action. It took a while but we were able to round out our limit of 3 kings and 3 coho by about 3pm. The water was so nice that we were constantly drawn to run out to join our other friends that had gone 45 miles to try for tuna but we never did....
After finishing with salmon, we ran in to a spot near shore and scratched up a few rock fish and a small ling cod.
An excellent day with great crew.
Til next tide!
